The Heart Truth® Fashion Event in Columbus Ohio

We all know that heart health needs to be on our minds, because heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in the United States. Think for a minute, how many people in your life have had a heart attack?

My mother had a heart attack 7 years ago, and thankfully we lived 10 minutes away from one of the best hospitals for heart problems in the country. She hopped in the car and drove herself to the hospital. Yes, in the middle of having a heart attack; I swear she could take down a grizzly bear if she needed to. They stopped it immediately, and she has no lasting effects from it.

She got very, very lucky.

Next week, Diet Coke will be hosting a Heart Truth Fashion Event at Ohio State University to bring heart health into the limelight and encourage the support of heart health education programs.

The Heart Truth® national awareness campaign is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). They want people to learn about heart disease in women and help them to recognize risk factors in order to save lives.

The fashion event will be held in the Ohio State University Ohio Union Performance Hall on Wednesday, February 29th at 7:00 pm. Fabulous fashions, all in red of course, will be displayed by local models sharing their commitment to heart health. Facts about heart health will be shared during the show, and the models will tell you how they live heart healthy too.

This fantastic event will also feature Diet Coke product sampling, Heart Status stations for heart health screenings will be provided by a local heart health organization, and there'll be a chance to show what you've got during a Wii Fit Heart Healthy trial.

The event will conclude with a $5,000 charitable contribution to a local heart health organization.

Diet Coke is a 4 year partner with the NHLBI and a supporter of The Heart Truth®. They will continue to raise funds and awareness for women's heart health research and education in 2012, and will be celebrating this through the distribution of limited edition cans and bottles with red dress and heart images.

I was invited to this great event, but with our schedule being crazy next week, unfortunately I won't be able to go. Which stinks, because I love it when great causes come up with unique ways to get their message out there.

I'm going to ask all of you to do me a favor and show your heart. Please take just a second to tweet about the importance of heart health using #showyourheartohio and @HeartTruthOhio

I can think of a million women who would appreciate it.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received an invite to this event, and although I am unable to attend, I wanted to spread the word about this great cause. I received no compensation, and love fashion shows. That's all.

Katelyn at 3 Months

I can't believe this sweet little girl is 3 months old already! She rolled over from belly to back on Monday, and it looks like her two bottom teeth are going to be coming in soon.

She loves smiling and cuddling with us, and she's ridiculously photogenic.

And munchable. Those cheeks are made for kisses.

Matching Injuries

These kids of mine sure are talented. I've never met two children before who have the incredible ability to get head injuries within one day of each other. Repeatedly.

A few months ago, Alexis split her lip open on the floor. Logan loves doing what his sister does, and must've wanted a split lip too. Because the next morning, he managed to get one as well.

This time, it was a forehead injury. She banged her forehead on the corner of the coffee table while dancing around the living room.

The very next day, Logan was dancing in the living room, and face planted into the corner edge of the dresser we repurposed as a tv stand.

I have a feeling these two are going to always be close to each other. And that I need to take stock in bandaids and antiseptic.

Hello Beautiful: My New Macbook Pro

"Say hello to my little friend." Isn't it shiny? I do hide it well, but I'm a complete computer geek, and rather proud of it.

Did you notice my daughter's cute little face in the reflection.

I am now the proud owner of a new fully loaded Macbook Pro. My old powerpc G4 was only capable of running Tiger, and was giving me kernel panics every other week. I was basically backing things up daily and praying that it wouldn't give up the ghost before it could be replaced.

Plus, with intel processors making the old powerpc's obsolete, within a year I wouldn't be able to run any of the software I would need for design. So, this lovely creature arrived a few days after Valentine's day.

This is the first computer I've ever bought on my own. All of my other Macs have been hand me downs from my mom which all worked great for years, and I did have 2 windows laptops that were good as paperweights but not much else.

I did forget how much work it takes to set up a new computer! I get so comfy with my settings that having to reinstall software and put all the little details how I want them can take two weeks of work.

I've been driving my husband nuts with all the tech geek talk lately. In fact, the other day we went out for lunch, and as I was searching for my wallet, I pulled an extra mouse out of my purse.

I just said "Oops, I forgot to leave this at home." And my husband just started laughing at me. That's okay though. He used to use a pc, and has thanked me multiple times for making him into a Mac convert.

I do feel bad that he's been neglected the past week because all my extra time has gone into getting this baby set up. But the upside is that doing everything I need to do only takes 1/10th of the time it used to, and I can work anywhere in the house.

So happy to have a good computer! Let me know if love Macs, are thinking of switching to one, or need any tech geek advice. I'm always here!

Je t'aime (I Love You) Valentine's Day Card ~ Free Printable

Hi There!

I hope you're having a great weekend, and I have a little something for those of you who need a sweet and simple Valentine's Day card. Je t'aime is French for I love you, and sometimes that's all you need to say.

It's a 5x7, and works best printed on cardstock. If you have a sheet of cardstock, or even scrapbooking paper, with a light design on one side you can print on the back to end up with a double sided card.

It's my little Valentine's Day gift to you. Thank you so much for reading, and sticking with us through all our adventures.

Download it in PDF form from Google Docs here: Je t'aime Valentine's Day Card Free Printable

Please let me know if you like it, or would be interested in more printables down in the comments!!
